Bones
So Rene and I have recently started watching the show Bones! Thanks to our Netflix we can watch all of the previous seasons for cheap and whenever we want. I'm really enjoying this show. Some episodes are a little too graphic for me, but it is quite amazing what some people can do in this world! If you've never watched it you should check it out! My picture for today is of the Bones cover from the tv!

Flowers from a little man!
So tonight Rene and I grilled fish with one of my former students and his awesome mom! The fish was great and so was the company! He surprised me with a bouquet of flowers! He is going to steal many hearts one day. I'm so lucky to have made an impact in such a great little boys life! I can't wait to see what his future brings! So my picture for today is of my bouquet!

Winter time
So today I spent my morning making a winter book to put my winter pictures! Lucky for me I have several pictures from the record 12 inches last year and from the 4-day snow days this year! The book turned out so cute and I can't wait to put my pictures in it! So my picture for today is of my mini book!

Chili for Rene
Since I'm such a good wife, I agreed to make Rene one of his favorite meals: Chili. I used to love my chili (it's heart healthy), but since I stopped eating beef I just can't put the chili in my mouth. But Rene has been begging me to make it for awhile. So I got home a cooked his chili, making sure to add my secret ingredient- no I can't tell you it's a secret :) So tonight I enjoyed my soup and Rene enjoyed his chili, compliments of me! So my picture for today is of my homemade chili.

So this morning a student I had last year brought me a Valentine's card. It was the cutest thing! What was even better was that it was a Harry Potter valentine and I love Harry Potter! So that pretty much put a smile on my face for the day! So my picture for the day is of my sweet valentine card!

Why I'm smiling today...
So on my way home from kickboxing, I received the sweetest text from my dad. He basically wanted to tell me that he loved me. I was in a pretty bummed mood today and that helped to lift my spirits! I love you dad and I miss you! So my picture today is of the text from my awesome dad!

A great weekend
So my weekend consisted of a slumber party, a shopping trip with my sister-in-law, and a fish cookout! My picture for Saturday February 19th is of the snake that made it's way into Jen's house during our party. It was pretty funny watching Jen jump on the couch. Her cat was pretty proud of herself! I had such a great time talking and playing games with my teammates. We are going to have to start making those an every year thing!
My picture for yesterday February 20th describes how I felt yesterday. The dogs were exhausted and slept almost all day. I stayed up way too late Saturday and was so tired yesterday. I was able to capture three pictures of the tired puppies...
My picture for today is of the new book I am reading.... I will
Fill you in more when I have finished. But I spent the afternoon reading and cleaning so the book pretty much sums up my day!

Borders closing
So yesterday I woke up with a low grade fever and a tummyache. Luckily I was able to get a half day sub and go see a doctor before it got any worse. And again luckily for me I was flu and strep-free. My blood test showed a possible viral infection coming on. So while I was waiting on my prescription to be filled I went over to one of my favorite bookstores, the Borders in Colleyville. Much to my surprise there was a sign on the door that said they were closing. I knew Borders had filled for Chapter 11, but I didn't think my Borders was one of the ones closing. So I am quite upset because I love this bookstore. I know I can get books cheaper at Scholastic, but I love Borders because the environment is perfect for reading and its the only bookstore around here that doesn't freeze you out the door. Hopefully they can figure out their financial mess and open it back up in the future. So my picture for yesterday, February 18th, is of the closing sign outside their window.....

There's something about home
So I know that my parents only live 20 minutes away from my house, 15 with no traffic, but there is something special about going to their house. I hadn't been to my parents house in quite a while actually, but tonight I had to drive there to drop off my dry cleaning. I know your wondering why I drive to their house. Well, I've always gotten my dry cleaning done there and I just can't switch. So my mom kindly drops it off for me and picks it up and delivers it to me!! I know, I'm a lucky girl. When I arrived at my parents, no one was home. So just like I did when I was little, I got to explore every room. Even though I know they all look exactly the same, there is just something about being in them again. My sister, who currently lives in my bedroom at my parents, well that room was a mess- go figure....Sorry Sarah! But other than that the house was spotless and smelled just like home! I got to play with sweet Baby Girl and Bo let me hold him for awhile to! I just love knowing that if I ever just need somewhere besides my house that I can completely relax in, my parents house is not too far away! So my picture for today is of Baby Girl and I at my parents house!
It's a full moon
So my picture to describe my day yesterday was the full moon last night (February 16th). I believe it was the reason for my crazy day at school. My kids were nuts yesterday and I knew it had to be either the weather or a full moon. I'm thinking it was the full moon. I had one student tell me they saw my mom walking to Whataburger on their way to school, another one tell me I should adopt a chimpanze, and another who said "Mrs. Aelvoet, you were right, I should have listend to you the first time." Ummmmm seriously....where did all of that come from. I'm sure there was more, but it was one thing after another yesterday. I will admit it was quite comical, but it made for quite an interesting and long day because they had a rough time staying on tasks. I will be glad once the moon passes and hopefully things will turn back to normal....maybe!??? So my picture for yesterday is the bright full moon!

Jealous
I am so jealous of my husband. He can eat whatever he wants and never gain a single pound. I know what your thinking......"give it ten years and he will." But you have never met his family. His dad is super skinny, his mom is pushing 100 pounds, and both sisters are incredibly thin as well as his brother. The only good thing that can come out of this problem is that hopefully my kids will be incredibly skinny. I have to workout like crazy to not gain a pound, and he could eat 2 whole pizzes from Pizza Hut and probably lose weight. It is just not fair. So my picture for today is of the plate of pizza my husband had for dinner. Mind you he had 3 more peices after this plate as well as 2 large muffins for dessert....Ummmm crazy!!
Valentine's Day
My picture for yesterday, February 14th, is of the rose I received from Glorias. My husband is not much of a romantic, but he did take me to dinner. At Glorias they gave all of the girls roses for V-day. They were not nearly as crowded as I thought they would be, though they did have to halt seating for a while due to the chip maker catching on fire! Anywho....I'm not really a fan of Valentine's because I think you should show people you love them everyday and not just on one particular day. I show my kids and my family how much I love them on a daily basis!

I am full of Glee
So as anyone that knows anything about me knows that I am obsessed with the tv show Glee. Well today at White's Chapel UMC the sermon was about Glee. It wasn't about the show persay, but more about the message of Glee. In the dictionary, Glee means absolute happiness! I think that is why I love that word so much. The minister spoke about what it means to be content in your own life. This message hit really close to home for me. People I know all around me are having babies, buying houses, and buying cars. And what do I get, none of those currently. Everytime I hear of someone I know that is getting something know I get a little bit jealous and wish it were me. But the sermon today helped to remind me of the beautiful and wonderful things I do have in my life that I shouldn't be taking for granted. I have a wonderful family who loves me, a couple of best friends that I wouldn't trade for the world, 2 amazing dogs who I love with all my heart, 20 wonderful children who make my days so much brighter, and a team full of kinder teachers that are there for me every day. No I may not be as thin as I want to be or have as much money as I want to have. But I am a pretty determined person, and I find a way to do all of things I really want to do and I enjoy them to the fullest.
The most important part of that sermon was being happy with you have, and I am very happy with what I have. I may need to learn a little patience because my time will come to get all of those things, but for now I just need to enjoy the wonderful things I do have!
So after the sermon, I went to the Chocolate Festival at Central Market with Rene, my mom, and sister! AMAZING......I love chocolate and this truly is one of the greatest things Central Market puts on. Then I got in an hour long workout. Next I enjoyed a pedicure with my mom! Then I ended my night making Valentine's cookies for my sweet husband. My little family is so perfect and I can't wait to watch it grow eventually. But for now I am pretty content with my two baby girls who love to snuggle with me every night :)

Be MiNe...
So today I spent my morning up at the Little Blue House with my friend Hannah! I made another set of tags for my blocks, and I learned this amazing new trick for glitter. I can't wait to use it on my next project. Hannah made a really cute, vintage looking book that would be great for Valentine's day or a wedding book! Today was the perfect amount of time for my project. The classes are usually four hours, but I was able to finish mine in an hour and half, which is more my time frame. I love doing the projects, but I have a really hard time sitting down in one spot to finish them. So all of my pictures for today are of my Be Mine blocks, and Hannah's adorable book!

Valentine's Parties
So today, at my school, we had our Valentine's Parties! My class had so much fun passing out their cards to each other. They were all so excited to look in my bag to see what I got as well! At our party, we decorated cookies and ate some yummy snack food, as they called it. I love watching my kids make things because they all look completely different. Some use pink icing, others use white. Some only want red sprinkles, while some want all colors on at the same time. It was so funny because it would get really quiet while they were concentrating on their decorations, and then get loud when it was time to share! So my picture for today is of a couple of my students' cookies they decorated. As you can tell they are all 100% different, which is why I love them so much!

My confessions....
So I finished reading book 3/25 for this year!! And that is from the Confessions of Shopaholic series "Mini Shopaholic." I actually had a really tough time getting into this book even though I loved the previous ones. Well I was finally able to finish it and I realized something about myself: I am quite addicted to shopping as well. Becky, the character in this book, learns from an expert that she has an addiction to shopping and it is causing disturbing behavior in her daughter. Becky comes up with these elaborate plans to pay for things so that her husband won't know about it.....yeah well I tend to do this as well. I'm going to pray that Rene doesn't see this, but I always have a way of letting purchases slip below his radar. So as I'm reading this I start laughing at loud, because this is so going to be me. Becky enjoys life and will stop at nothing to get what she wants. I am kind of the same way, I love my life so much and I want to do and see everything and if that means I have to get a cheap old house, and a used car when that time comes, I will take it with a smile. I would rather travel around the world and have lots of kids and be absolutely happy than spend my money on expensive houses and cars. So now that I have finished this book, I'm quite excited about the next one! Until tomorrow...

Yet another snow day...
Today I was actually quite thankful for the snow day. I have not slept well the past two nights. Last night my mind was just worrying that it was going to ice and I was going to have to drive to school in the ice (sad I know). I woke up at 4 a.m. and checked my phone and it was still 37 degrees and no rain or snow. I woke again at 5:21 when my mom called to tell me school was cancelled. I then checked my phone again and it had dropped to 25 and was sleeting. The winter storm sure did move in quickly. I was not able to go back to sleep after that. I watched all of my recorded shows, did 5 loads of laundry, and went to the mall. I was finally able to take an hour long nap around noon! Then I was able to finish cleaning, finish my TELPAS, and get in a workout! So I would call it quite a successful day! I can't wait to hear the stories my kids tell me in the morning about their snow day adventures. So my picture for today is the snow outside my front yard!
The mind of a five year old
So my picture for Tuesday Feb. 8th is of a character I used to do a planned experience lesson in my classroom. Every year we do a lesson to kind of pin point those students who need to be placed into GT. The lesson I did yesterday involved a character called a "beast." I found it so interesting that this "beast" brought up so much conversation between the 20 five year olds in my class. They were not allowed to talk during the assignment for idea purposes. But when it was over, they broke out into conversation about prehistoric animals. I must admit it was kind of crazy. I have one child in my class who inspires to be a scientist one day, and I have no doubt that he will be one, but he came to me talking about all of these dinosaurs that I have never heard of. He is a pretty smart kid so I do believe every word he said, but it just amazed me at how much he knew about dinosaurs and he is only five years old. Watching them construct their own beasts and attempt to name them was priceless! It's moments like these that remind me of how lucky I am to be doing my job! So my picture for yesterday is of the beasts that sat on my board for 30 minutes that helped me to get a better look into some of my childrens imaginative brains!

Clean machine
So after not having been in my classroom for 6 days due to last weeks weather....lets just say it was a big mess. I chose not to go up there this past Sunday, but I really should have. All of the papers had been stacking up and I honestly hadn't noticed. Then today I brought in a parent of a former student to look at the scrapbook I made for last year, and I was honestly embarrassed. She could tell it was messy (plus my kids were in the middle of cutting out stuff), but still. After I attended my workout class, I headed back up to school so take care of that crazy mess in my room. Two and half hours later it looks so much better! Sometimes all I really need is a little rearrangment and filing! So my picture for today is of my newly cleaned desk area!
Super Bowl
My picture for February 6th is of my wonderful husband! I told him he had to wear a jersey to the Super Bowl party we were attending because everyone was wearing a jersey. So instead of wearing the Cowboys jersey I bought for him two years ago he wore is Spurs jersey. I tried to tell him that you don't wear a basketball jersey to watch the super bowl, but he said that the Spurs are better than both teams so he needed to show them support instead. So my picture for yesterday is of Rene in his Spurs jersey.

School days
So I finally decided that I had to do something on the third day that I was stuck inside. I made my husband take me to Hobby Lobby but of course they were closed. So we went to Target and I found the best set of school pages. So I decided to scrapbook my first year of teaching. I have several pictures from this year and it was a great year for me, so why not scrapbook it. So I worked pretty much all day on Friday and today to finish it and I did. I was very surprised I was able to finish it so quickly. I normally do like 4 pages in 6 hours because my mind has to think for a long time before I think of an idea. But these past few days I was on a roll and I am amazed at how much I like this scrapbook. Because I have not and will not post pictures of my former or current students on anything except my school website, I have just taken a picture for the front of book. But if anyone would like to see the inside pages please let me know and I will be happy to share!
Snow day #4
We had to get a family picture in the snow!
Harley loved the snow.
Harley loved the snow.
It was pretty slippery right here.
It's just so beautiful!
It's just so beautiful!
So yesterday, February 4th, we experienced snow day#4, except this time it was actual snow. The weather forecasters said we would maybe get an inch of snow. Well once again they were wrong. My ruler measured 4 inches of snow in my backyard. My family and I were supposed to drive downtown to watch my brother-in-law show at the Stock show, but because of the dangerous roads we decided that would not be a good idea. So they picked me up and we all went to brunch at La Peep. Then we drove, very slowly, to the movie theater. Sarah and I saw Tron and my parents saw True Grit. I must add that we were the only ones in the theater and it was freezing. After the movie was over, the sun finally came out and was starting to melt the snow. So I believe they saved the best snow day for last becuase this one we actually got to go out and play in it. Even though it was still freezing cold outside, the snow just brought an added bounce of excitement that had to be enjoyed! I love to watch it snow and I think it is magical because it rarely happens in Texas. So my pictures for Feb. 4th are of my snow day adventures.

Get me outta here....
So with day 3 of no school I had to get out of my house. Luckily my mom came to my rescue and took me to lunch. We enjoyed lunch at Celebrity cafe and then she dropped my sister and I off at Khols so we could shop while she went to a doctors appointment. Well we were there quite a bit longer than expected so we walked from Khols to Kroger and it was FREEEEZZZING. I mean you think cold, but this was almost unbearable. The wind was blowing so hard and the Khols parking lot was complete ice. It was almost safer to slide your feet along the ground instead of actually walking. Well we did survive, but we took some pictures along the way! Though I am so tired of being stuck at home, I think it is safest that again we are not having school tomorrow. So everyone, keep warm tonight and be safe!
Officially bored
So my picture for yesterday February 2nd is of the fire my wonderful hubby built before he left for work. Our electricity went out early in the morning and I was left there in the dark with only a flash light and the fire. The electricity eventually came back on, but it was still pretty cold outside. My mom and sister had to come over because the heat at their house was out. So we spent the afternoon watching Leap Year and cooking s'mores in the fire! I am so grateful to have a warm home that can keep my safe! Though I was bored out of my mind yesterday on day 3 of no school.

SNOW DAY!!
The puppies taking a much needed snooze.
Yes, I have lots of scrapbooks. But when you've been scrapbooking since the 6th grade it tends to happen!
The morning after it snowed.
So I woke up about 4 a.m. this morning to the sound of sleet hitting my window. The sleet escalated and led to a snow day! Of course I was not able to go back to sleep because a snow day is so unexpected and therefore quite exciting! I spent the majority of my day cleaning my house and I finally organized my scrapbook closet after a year of living in this house! I also watched P.S. I love you, which has to be the saddest movie I have ever seen. I still cannot watch anything that deals with death, it just makes me too emotional. I tried to brave the cold and go and play with the dogs, but it was unbearable. So I would quickly run out and take pictures of them! I spent the evening making my healthy soup and am now about to watch Toy Story 3. My pictures for today are of all the activities I did!
