The mind of a five year old

So my picture for Tuesday Feb. 8th is of a character I used to do a planned experience lesson in my classroom. Every year we do a lesson to kind of pin point those students who need to be placed into GT. The lesson I did yesterday involved a character called a "beast." I found it so interesting that this "beast" brought up so much conversation between the 20 five year olds in my class. They were not allowed to talk during the assignment for idea purposes. But when it was over, they broke out into conversation about prehistoric animals. I must admit it was kind of crazy. I have one child in my class who inspires to be a scientist one day, and I have no doubt that he will be one, but he came to me talking about all of these dinosaurs that I have never heard of. He is a pretty smart kid so I do believe every word he said, but it just amazed me at how much he knew about dinosaurs and he is only five years old. Watching them construct their own beasts and attempt to name them was priceless! It's moments like these that remind me of how lucky I am to be doing my job! So my picture for yesterday is of the beasts that sat on my board for 30 minutes that helped me to get a better look into some of my childrens imaginative brains!
